1966 FJ45LV!!! Often referred to as the Holy Grail of Land Cruisers. Estimated less than 50 remain on the road in North America. Has been an ongoing restoration. Body off sandblast and paint in 2010, OME suspension, 4 wheel disc brake conversion, Almost new BFG ATs, Dynamat throughout, Chevy 350, super clean interior, newer upholstery and carpet. Chevy swap!? I’m well aware of the advantages but I would want original mechanicals. I’ve never even seen one of these at all. It’s surprising to me that this isn’t something of a concours project.

The truck is beautiful, I'd rather drive it slow anyway.

Absolutely no reason to put a Chevy V8 in this, that straight 6 is probably one of the few engines that will outlive a 350.

A guy parks at a small   park and ride here in Marin, across 101 from the Ferrari dealer . I see it all the time, totally restored correctly from what I can see . There is also a Defender 90 that I   suspect is the same guys.

Yeah, for a money-no-object restoration I would go with a more historically correct powertrain.  But it looks nice.

I was seriously interested/ tempted right up until the 350 swap. Why? It’s really not that hard to find a suitable Toyota inline 6 or maybe a nice diesel 4 banger . But nope, had to cop out and do a 350. Probably even carb’d for extra ease of installation. The hunt continues.
